You may have read my Blog post from the 3rd October 2014, if not then help yourself :).
The update is that Favour has torn a ligament in her front left leg, she has damaged the Outside of the Check Ligament onto the Deep Flexor tendon, it runs from behind the knee to half way down her leg.
This basically means no riding for 6 months !!!.
She needs for the next two weeks the leg hosed with cold water for 10 minutes a.m. and p.m., then to support the Ligament it needs to bandaged up, the other leg is done too, so she has equal support each side.
Our Farrier, Joe, has also fitted some shows that are higher in the heel ( to Favour not himself 🙂 ), this helps support the ligament.
Favour is allowed out in the field, however only in a small space to stop her running about and damaging the leg even more, ideally she should be having total rest in her stable, but last time we did that she got Colic and that is a horse killer, so better to take a little longer in the healing time with her going out in the field and be safer from Colic issues.
The vet scanned her leg and I got to see the tear in the ligament, so have seen the damage !!! she will be re-scanned in 3 months time to see how the rest time is fixing the leg.
I’m going to read up on the injury and see if any alternative remedies exist and what I can so to ensure the healing process progresses well and is a permanent fix and does not go again.
Wish Favour good luck and me the patience of a saint, as riding is my down time and without it I’m feeling lost already.
I will just have to concentrate more time into my affiliate marketing setup.
p.s. Think my mountain bike may get some use now :), where did I leave that tyre pump… !?
