Profile: Experienced Agile Software Test Manager with full software development life cycle experience, with hands on testing, team leadership and line management experience in various roles over a long career in software development. The last eleven years concentrating on testing of Web/Digital, E-Commerce & ERP (SAP) systems, management of test strategy, planning and co-ordination of teams, covering unit to UAT, functional and non functional, manual and automated (Selenium) testing in fast paced Travel, Retail and Financial teams.
I am a career professional with a structured software development background, with experience of running projects under the Waterfall/V model & Agile (with Scrum & Kanban), using SSADM, DSDM, Prince II, making use of Microsoft Project, Visio and, trained to ISEB/ISTQB standards for software testing, including test strategy definition, functional and non-functional testing, test planning and resource management.

I run a social media agency and software quality assurance company that provides social media posting, advertising, training & testing to clients in the UK and US.
We specialise in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and Linkedin postings and adverts for our clients and testing web based & E-Commerce systems.
June 2014 to March 2015: Home Retail Group (Homebase): Senior Solutions Manager within the Test & Solutions Team.
I worked within the Multi-Channel Marketing department with the Test & Solutions Team, my role works across the Multi-Channel department, bringing the Technology into Marketing and collaborating within Marketing and Information Services (IS) to ensure the software products are used fully and new ones deliver on the promise, by using my project management, analysis and testing skills.
We used HP Quality Center for defect tracking, the systems under development were primarily IBM based (IBM WebSphere) with the main web site being www.Homebase.co.uk.
I was also involved in the Innovations team, we have visited Google and Microsoft to understand the new innovations within Retail and how they can be used at Home Retail Group.
June 2013 – June 2014: TUI Travel: Business Acceptance Test Manager.
I was in charge of the test strategy, managing and planning the work of the Digital / E-Commerce Business Acceptance Test team of eleven testers, with additional resources from the business as required on a project basis. I ran projects under Agile with Scrum, with responsibility for accepting all BAU and digital related projects for Falcon, First Choice and Thomson web sites, covering desk top, tablet and mobile applications.
Projects deployed the Thomson App and the Thomson and First Choice mobile application for smart phones and numerous phases of the new system roll out making use of Hybris, Endecca and @Com technology.
The testing function had an offshore and near shore set up for functional and non-functional testing, with automated testing catered for via Selenium.

I tested the electronic data management systems that are used by the NHS / Met. Police for the storing of scanned paper records.

For 7.5 years I worked at Computacenter on a 6-month rolling project basis, working in E-Commerce as Test Manager/Lead, with numerous contract renewals.
E-Commerce Test Manager/Lead – Computacenter: 2005 to 2013 (7+ years on rolling contract)
I worked as the E-Commerce Test Manager/Lead for the “Connect” E-Commerce web system, aimed at the B2B and B2C market, making use of Agile with scrum project development technique. In the last year, I have been responsible for expanding testing into all other areas of the Information Service department.
My role involved working with in-house resources to review project documentation, creating and reviewing test strategies, estimating, planning, executing test scripts, working with third party software development companies [ Conchango/ EMC/ Deloittes / Red Prairie ], and the Computacenter users and technical staff, to agree on a consistent approach to testing and to identify risks and dependencies.
I was involved in team management (3 direct testers and numerous indirect business testers) and hands on testing and defect resolution, with defect tracking and management catered for via Test Plan (Original Software) and SAP Solution Manager, covering Unit test through to User Acceptance.
The sales related web sites for the UK (CCExpress, CCD, Government, CHBU) and Germany are based on the Blue Martini [Red Prairie] architecture making use of Java and J2EE, with an Oracle database, interfacing to the backend SAP ERP.
Computacenter – SAP Group ERP Test Manager / PMO: February 2010 to February 2012 (2 years)
My role on the £35 million Group ERP implementation project, which installed the SAP ERP Central Components ( SAP ECC 6.0) and sixty other enhanced systems, was as the UK Group ERP Test Manager where I matrix managed 200 business testers.
March 2003 – April 2005 – Business Analyst (TT – Senior Grade), HomeLoan Management Ltd (HML) – part of Skipton Building Society Group.
I Quality assured a new server based, object oriented systems called JADE, that replaced the mainframe, mortgage and investment systems and government lead “mortgage day” requirements to meet the Financial Services Authorities (FSA) rules. I managed the provision and security of data within the test environments, ensuring that data was refreshed and obfuscated to ensure data integrity when based on production examples.
Delivered twenty-five successful projects to blue chip clients, by producing business requirements documentation, and then performing Functional, User Acceptance Testing and Risk Management.

I had overall responsibility for the running of the Technology department, reporting directly to the board of Directors, coordinating the efforts of the Support, Development and QA functions, consisting of ten IT professionals. The areas of responsibility included the back end systems, warehouse technologies and the high profile, award winning (New Media Age Health & Leisure website of the year, and Internet Magazine’s Site of the Month), e-commerce web site (www.thinknatural.com) that ran on ATG.

I progressed to the position of Development Manager, coordinating the efforts of the Information Communications Technology Services (ICtS) team consisting of twenty two IT Professionals, running an ERP package called Movex from Intentia on the AS/400 Platform, with Lotus notes, Data Warehousing and Web applications catering for the CRM, B2B and B2C requirements. My role as team manager covered the areas Technical support of the IT development systems, Analysis, Coding, Testing and QA functions.

I am interested in most active sports, most especially horse riding, cycling, hockey & golf.
I started the Canon Hockey team and ran it for 5 years and also played for Battersea Park Wanderers for 15 years where I played for the men’s team and captained the mixed team know as the “Weasels”.
